ANIME BOSTON

This was my first "real" convention. I previoiusly went to kamecon which was small and kinda crappy.

So. I got up and drove into boston and found my way to the parking garage under Boston common. I followed some other people to the con and walked into the lobby. At this time it was about 9:30. I stood there for a while and walked around and then went upstairs to the mezzazine to pick up my pass. I asked a volunteer where the line was and he showed it to me. The like was extremely long and i was like "Holy Shit!" I told the man that I was preregistered and he said, "Thats excellent come right this way" and he brought me right over to the desk to pick up my badge like I was a celebrity or something.

At this point it was a litte after ten and i wandered into the chibi-project live! I stood there for a little while and it really wasnt very interesting so i went into the main events hall where Scott McNeil was. I listend to him talk until a little passed eleven and then made my way into the line for the dealers room.

There was a line for the dealers room because it was a very small area and if they had just let everybody in it would have been a complete dissaster. The line moved along rather quickly. Once i got inside I bought a Gouf Custom model, Gundam Blue Destiny, Gundam Technical Manual 2,3,and 4, Cowboy Bebop Shooting Star, the Megatokyo book for a friend who wanted one and a macross and a gundam poster. I was looking for some soundtracks at good prices but all of the cds that were there were all very expensive. There were alot of figures, plushies, gashapon, models and DVDs. There were some posters and a few import games. Asylum Anime had a large selection of Cels there. I would of loved to buy one but everything they had was at least $$100. :(

I walked out of the con with all my stuff and proceeded back to the parking garage. I dropped all my stuff back off at the van and then got a couple of hot dogs to eat at the common. I walked around a little bit and then went back inside.

Once i got back inside it was just before one and i went to panel one to see Jerry Chu from Bandai Entertainment. There he talked about ongoing projects and future releases and about S-Cry-ed. He also did a thing where he took ten volunteers from the audience and had them write down what they thought was Bandais newest aquisition. I thought it was Witch Hunter Robin and I was right. None of the people that went up got it right and i was angry that i hadnt been called on. The prize was the collectors box for .hack sign. They also chose a random birthday and that persone got the other one. I did get a free T-Shirt though for Scryed. Then I made my way to the main events hall again.

I got into the main events Hall to see all five Gundam Wing voice actors. This was the first time they had all been gathered together at one convention. I listened to them talk and people ask questions and it was very good. All of the guys were very friendly and joked around and it was funny. I then proceeded back to panel one for the third time today

I had to wait outside for a little while for the AMV panel to finish and then went inside to see A few guys from ADV Films. I cant remember their names but it was a director of something, an ADR person, Tiffany Grant and some other guy. They talked about current projects, release dates, future plans, and made some new announcements. They said that they are going to be working on the farscape anime and also that they have aquired Azumanga Daioh, Final Fantasy Unlimited, Magical Shopping Street Abenobashi and the "Directors Cut of the last six episodes of Evangelion which they made clear that was different than the renewal of Evangelion. They showed promos and then moved onto Q and A. Then to Trivia, They asked about ten questions and I only knew the answer to one. They gave away a bunch of DVDs and a Paul Champagne Box for Bubblegum Crisis. They also said that they now have ten dubbing studios functioning and that all of the slayers series are in production to come here.

I then saw the pioneer people and they wernt that interesting and i left early.

I then peeked into the video rooms the art gallery and the game rooms. I played a little bit of DDR and then left for the day. I came home and now here I am.
